Can’t sleep, having nightmares about my parents. Dad isnt recovering as quickly as we’d hoped.

Watching riding vids to help. I’ll get to this level one day.

What happened? Sorry if I missed a post about it. But hopefully he’ll recover from whatever it is. And make sure he knows that hope and fighting is crucial in any illness or injury. It’s a legit psychological thing. Patients who give up have a tendency to have a worsening condition or longer recovery. I’m sure he’s not gonna give up, though. Like, he’s your dad, and that isn’t how dads typically roll.

He had a REALLY nasty heart attack a few weeks ago. Doctor was shocked he survived, never seen some have such a big one and live.

Needless to say, im a little on edge.

Oh man. Usually surviving the initial attack is a really good sign.

If he got defibbed and treated quickly enough, the long term prognosis is usually good. A little longer than that, and he may have heart issues going forward, but those are treatable with medication. My not-a-doctor-dont-know-your-dad guess is that he’ll be fine, it’s just a matter of time. Make sure to keep his spirits up, though, as anxiety and depression can occasionally arise in survivors, because they fear another attack.

yea.

the MAIN problem for me right now is that he is literally 1000 miles away at home, and I’m up in thunder bay for university.

Sorry to hear that your dad had a heart attack, but I’m glad he survived. My dad had a heart attack back when I was about 9 and I remember being really freaked out about it, too. It’s not easy. Hopefully he gets better soon, in the meantime talk to him as much as you can, I think it will help ease anxiety for both of you.

Dude keep your head up. I have a uncle who gave us the same scare a month ago it was looking ugly but he pulled through.
